Professional Dog Trainers
Autumn has loved dogs her entire life. In 1991 she and her family got their first dog, a beagle, named Becky. A care schedule of feeding, watering, bathing, play-time and nail trims resulted and Becky soon became Autumn's life-long friend. Taking care of Becky fueled Autumn's love for dogs and for all animals. One year later, Nellie became the second family dog and the joy and love that was associated with one dog doubled! Over the years, her family kept adding new dogs as the older loved ones passed.
After graduating from a technical college, Autumn moved into her condo but noticed something was missing. Fate turned to lead Autumn to her next dog. Benson was found while he was walking down the middle of a snow covered country road. Benson was cold, tired and skinny. When they got home Benson took a long nap and was fed large meals. He started pepping up and Autumn knew he was something special. Benson has been her constant companion since February 2010.
In December 2011, Autumn formalized her dog training skills and earned her Master Trainer certificate for Professional Dog Training at world renowned National K-9 School for Dog Trainers. There, Benson was off-leash obedience trained and earned his AKC's Canine Good Citizen certificate. Benson has since earned his R.E.A.D.ing Dog certificate and has helped young children gain confidence when reading by being a loving support and by being a good listener!
Now, Chris and Autumn spend their time helping to build better bonds between dogs and their owners. They enjoy helping dogs to become well-behaved and well-socialized canine representatives and enjoy teaching owners how to get the most from their dogs. Helping shelter dogs is another great passion they share. Training shelter dogs helps improve their chances of getting into and staying in adoptive homes. Once the shelter dogs are trained they are ready for adoption, then Chris and Autumn help find them suitable, loving, long-term homes.

The Dog Trainer Boarding and Training Facility was founded by Chris DeBoard and is the culmination of a strong desire, from childhood, to help as many dogs as possible stay in their homes and be adopted out of dog shelters.
In line with that desire, Chris' first dog, Heidi, a Terrier/Schnauzer mix, came from the Franklin County Humane Society when she was 8 years old. When, in just a few days, she developed a respiratory infection the Humane Society offered to let Chris pick out another dog. He refused, nursed her back to health and got to spend the next 15 years with her. Thus began a lifetime of trying to help dogs and of animal advocacy in general.
His next dog, Juno, a Husky, also came from Franklin County. As a young adult, Chris decided to seek out professional training for Juno. He turned to one of his close friends from high school, Craig Richardson of Richardson K-9, who is a professionally trained and certified dog trainer who received his training at an internationally respected facility - National K-9 School for Dog Trainers. Craig taught Chris how to train Juno and immediately he realized the immeasurable value of training for both a dog and an owner.
Over the next 20 years Chris has helped thousands of dogs (including eight more of his own) and similarly formalized his training education at the same respected training academy.
